Aug 12, 2023Masquerade on Main comes to downtown Toccoa
Downtown Toccoa takes on a festive air as several events combine for a New Orleans themed weekend.
Tomorrow afternoon, Toccoa’s annual Sip & Stroll kicks off the fun with Masquerade on Main from 5-8 p.m., where your “passport” will guide you to various downtown businesses, and strollers can enjoy their favorite drink samples, deals, special promotions, and music. Activities along the way include a mask making contest, scavenger hunt, photo booths, special Cajun cuisine tasting, and more! Attendees who complete all the entries on their event passport are eligible to win a grand prize.
Kaitlan Long, owner of Downtown Flowers on Doyle Street, said the event will bring a new flavor to the annual Sip & Stroll event that prompts downtown businesses.
She added that adding a theme to the weekend events will add a fun new twist.
Derek and Sarah Addison, the owners of R&R Prime on Doyle, are appreciative of the city’s efforts to support downtown with new and fun events
The Addisons are also holding a grand opening today, Aug. 3, for the new R&R Terminal, at 26 Doyle Street.
On Friday, Aug. 4, the Historic Ritz Theatre will feature a special 7 p.m. showing of the family-friendly animated Disney film, The Princess and the Frog. Concessions are available for $1, and tickets for the movie are available for $1 at the box office at showtime.
The themed weekend events continue on Saturday as the Ida Cox Music Series welcomes Brass Animals from Atlanta. The instrumental band brings New Orleans funk, pop and R&B with a diverse selection of new and classic hits by well-known artists from Stevie Wonder to Beyoncé.
Toccoa Special Events Coordinator Misty Richardson says the band will be a special treat for attendees at this weekend’s Ida Cox event.
